Dear Distinguished Lions,
I am honoured to be appointed by LCI as your National/Multi-National Coordinator CSF II , Area V-11A ( Malaysia & Brunei ) for the year 2005-2008. This leadership position will be instrumental in furthering the success of SightFirst and in LCI's worldwide US$150 million fund-raising program to combat blindness. Our own area Malaysia and Brunei has been asked to set a target of US$2 million in the next 3 years from 2005-2008.
Together with Sector Coordinator PDG Wong Chang Wai and the 3 District Coordinators namely DC Yong Mui Foh (A2), IPDG Lillian Fan (B1), PDG See Beng Loo (B2) and Group Coordinators of A2, B1and B2.
We will assist clubs and help them conduct fund-raising at the local level such as contribution through MJF designated to CSF II , Model Clubs and Lead Gifts and Major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and government agencies.
Lions are committed for preserving vision for all and have been able to combat blinding diseases, builds hundreds of sustainable eye care systems and train thousand of critically needed eye care works. The world's blind population to grow from 37 to 78 million as predicted by the World Health Organisation. While many can be served, Lions cannot stop until the job completed.
I have the utmost confidence that we will be able to achieve our target and in ensuring that our SightFirst program is made even stronger as we work to meet the newly emerging challenges threatening the world's vision health in the 21 st Century.
I urge Clubs to think about how you can help make Campaign SightFirst II a success in reaching our goal and to include CSFII fundraising in your plan for the year 2006/2007 and 2007/2008, in addition to that effort if you wish to hold a fundraising event or dedicate MJF to CSFII during this year, those gifts will count toward your club and district goal at the conclusion of the campaign. More news and information about the progress and achievement of the campaign will follow in the coming months.
